Morpheus
is a full-featured peer-to-peer file sharing program where
you can search for more than just mp3s. You can also search

MusicCity Network. With Morpheus, you can also make your own

Bearshare
is a Gnutella based file sharing program that makes the
ever-confusing Gnutella configuration and interface easy for
the user to use. It supports all kinds of files (including

Comparison and Rating
|
|
1. Interface - 1-20 Points
AudioGalaxy - 15 Points - The simple
client is very straight-forward and easy to use.
Morpheus - 20 Points - Very clean and the big buttons on the
top will make it easy for anyone to use.
BearShare - 12 Points - Very similar to Napster's old style
with various tabs for every function. It is quite bland and
boring.
LimeWire - 20 Points - Reminds you of a Mac program. It's
blue-purple color is easy on the eye and the big tab buttons
on the top is very nicely done as well.
iMesh - 18 Points - Decently designed although the color
scheme could be re-done. Reminds you of the old Internet
Explorer interface.
Aimster - 10 Points - There are simply too many windows and
the font is too small. Could use another color scheme too.
However, it is skinnable. |
2. Ease of Use - 1-20 Points
AudioGalaxy - 10 Points - The registration process,
downloading, logging on, and then clicking the Satellite
icon on the website will be hard to follow-through for the
novice user.
Morpheus - 20 Points - Very simple and straight-foward,
anyone will be able to use it.
BearShare - 20 Points - The program does every single setup
configuration and connecting process you need. Also the tab
functions will be easy to use for the pre-Napster users.
LimeWire - 20 Points - Very easy to use. The big buttons at
the top are all you need.
iMesh - 18 Points - Very easy to use, the old IE-style
buttons make this program simple and convinient.
Aimster - 15 Points - Only downfall is that you need to have
an AIM account to use. Besides that everything is
straightforward.
|
3. Number of Results - 1-25 Points
AudioGalaxy - 18 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling", I
got 10 results.
Morpheus - 20 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling", I got 15
Results.
BearShare - 25 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling", I got
90 results.
LimeWire - 15 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling" I got 6
Results.
Imesh - 5 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling", I got 1
result.
Aimster - 25 Points - For "Alicia Keys - Falling", I got 100
results (this was the max).
|
4. Speed of Downloads - 1-20 Points
AudioGalaxy - 20 Points - Although the speed of downloads
are relevant to the user with the song, my experience with
AudioGalaxy has been more than satisfying. It picks the
users closest to you so you can't go wrong with this program.
Morpheus - 20 Points - Morpheus downloads the same file from
multiple users with the file at the same time, so the
download is very fast. The downloads are very fast.
BearShare - 18 Points - Once again, this is dependent on the
remote user or server, but I had relative decent speed with
BearShare. However, it takes forever for the results to show
up.
LimeWire - 15 Points - Although this uses the same Gnutella
Network as BearShare, the download speeds seemed relatively
slow.
Imesh - 18 Points - Very fast, and search results show up
very fast too.
Aimster - 20 Points - Find the remote server and user, and
the downloads will be very fast.
Note - All of these programs havs some kind of indicator
about how fast the remote server/user is. So, all these
programs have decent or fast download/transfer speeds.
|
5. Other - 1-15 Points
AudioGalaxy - 12 Points - The Auto-Resume feature where
it finds the same file from another user and resumes is a
very useful feature.
Morpheus - 15 Points - Other features include playlist
creation, media management, and an embedded media playerfor
previewing. It also transfers content files from multiple
sources for fast downloads of files. It also supports a
whole variety of media files.
BearShare - 8 Points - You can search for all types of
files.
LimeWire - 8 Points - You can search for all types of files.
iMesh - - 8 Points - You can search for all types of files.
It also has skin support.
